Kegel Exercises

Leaking urine (incontinence) is a common symptom of living with MS. It can be a few drops or an annoying constant flow throughout the day. It may affect self-esteem as well as various aspects of life.

The good news is that you can be proactive by doing Kegel exercises in order to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

Pelvic floor exercises are relatively easy to perform once you get the hang of it. There are online guides with diagrams and short videos that demonstrate how to identify the pelvic muscles and what might be the best way to exercise them.

However, in order to learn how to do the exercises correctly, you should probably consult with a pelvic floor physiotherapist.

As always, you should talk with your healthcare team about urine leakage and consult with them before starting to practice Kegel exercises.
