You have probably encountered the term ”Clinical trial” before. You might have come across other relevant related phrases, such as new treatments, drug research, different phases and more. We want to take a step back for a second to understand the basics: what are Clinical Trials?
Clinical trials are inevitable for the development of new treatments that may include new drugs, different combinations, and various technologies. The trials evaluate whether a new treatment might be effective and safe. Usually, the participants are selected because of a specific diagnosis, characteristics, and medical background.
Before a new treatment is considered for a clinical trial, it is evaluated in a lab and must demonstrate feasibility. The approval process of potential treatments includes a few phases, and each study phase requires to prove positive results before moving on to the next one.
Clinical trials are conducted following ethical principles and rigorous protocols whose primary purpose is to protect the trial participants.
